The NHS pay award in England is nowhere near enough. Not enough to keep pace with rising prices. Nowhere near what’s needed to improve staffing and protect patient care.
That’s why national UNISON IS running an industrial action ballot in the NHS.

The government has imposed a £1,400 a year pay increase on you. They won’t negotiate. They won’t accept that this pay award will only worsen the NHS staffing crisis. They are out of touch and you are out of pocket.
We’ve tried everything to get them to listen. Now it’s time for action. Because if pay doesn’t rise we will.
UNISON branch is asking you to Pledge YES for the NHS as a part of a pre-ballot campaign which asks you to promise to vote YES for industrial action when we ballot you in late October.
Branch Secretary Nick McMaster writes:
“Previous ballots for industrial action have seen low national turnouts, which has meant that previous pay awards have been accepted.
Historically national UNISON has often not given members any direction on whether to take industrial action, much to the frustration of thousands of activists. As a branch we have always recommended to our members to vote for industrial action when we have had the opportunity.
However, this time national UNISON is of the same view: that years of below inflation pay awards, coupled with the cost of living crisis and a demoralised and depleted NHS workforce, leaves us with no choice but to stand up for decent pay.
Please take this opportunity to make the Pledge now, and when the time comes, to vote for industrial action.”

Why Pledge YES?
-
If large numbers of members pledge that they will take action we can use this as evidence for why employers/government should talk to us now so that action can be averted.
-
And if you help spread the word to others we can make sure that when the ballot arrives enough numbers send their ballot papers back so that we can go ahead with lawful action if the government doesn’t shift.
UPDATE YOUR DETAILS!
Please remember that we need all your details to be up to date, otherwise any ballot could be legally challenged. Whether it is your job title, work base or home address, contact us and we can amend them for you.
